Popo Danes, arsitek kelahiran Bali, Indonesia yang konsisten dengan arsitektur vernakular menggelar pameran arsitektur bertajuk “New Regionalism in Bali Architecture” di Bentara Budaya, Bali. Indonesia. Tajuk ini diangkat dari monograph yang diluncurkan dengan judul yang sama. Karya-karyanya yang begitu kental dengan arsitektur tropis tetap eksis ditengah gaya arsitektur internasional. Errik Irwan Wibowo, arsitek muda Indonesia sekaligus kartunis berbakat membagi beberapa foto kepada AADL.

Foto-foto ini hanya mampu sedikit menggambarkan bagaimana karya Popo Danes dibangun dan bekerja. Merasakan ruang sendiri sepertinya lebih kuat meninggalkan kesan  dan pengalaman.

Luasnya definisi tentang “pintu” memberikan ruang berkreasi yang luas. Isu tentang privasi, batas, fungsi, program, dan material muncul dari berbagai sudut pandang. Sehingga kemudian keluar beberapa opsi tentang rumah secara harfiah pun rumah dalam ruang imajinasi.

AADL had the opportunity to see the exhibition with the theme of “Rumah-Rumah Tanpa Pintu [Houses Without Doors]” held by Jongarsitek!, a community of Indonesian young architects, in Dia.Lo.Gue Art-Space, Jakarta, 1-20 July 2011. The exhibition, which followed 11 young Indonesian architects and curated by Danny Wicaksono displied works from the smallest scale called space up to large-scale, the city.

The breadth of the definition of “door” created a vast space of creation. The issue of privacy, boundaries, functions, programs, and materials come from various viewpoints. So then came out a few options about the house in a literal sense and house in the space of imagination.

The Mangrove

The Mangrove is a proposal for Agung Sedayu Center. Office building for one property developer in Indonesia, Agung Sedayu Group. It offers an unadorned iconic form.

The Mangroves consist of two asymmetry towers that rotated to get the beautiful vista at the same time capable of capturing sunlight in the morning until midday. Corridor without artificial air conditioner placed encircling each floor. He became a filter of light once the sun’s heat directly into work spaces. So then all work spaces can reduce the temperature of the air conditioner. This is an effort to minimize dependence of the building on electrical energy needs.

The Mangrove offers flexible spaces on each floor. Selecting “Skin Skeleton Structure” as its main structure at the same time to shade the spaces inside. Different densities on the facade is set to adjust the annual movement of the sun.

The Mangrove is designed not merely to the individual masses. Departing from the belief that the sea should remain owned by anyone. And also can be reached by anyone. The mangrove is designed “life” became part of the mangrove Jakarta. The mangrove is open to the public. Jakarta sea, mangroves, promenade, tower ground floor, podium floor, roof floor is designed to be accessible by those who want to enjoy the north sea of Jakarta. Patterned dynamic pedestrian bridge them from the promenade up to the podium level. Access to vehicles were forced to spin, let the sea air stays clean for those pedestrians and cyclists.

The Mangrove adalah proposal untuk Agung Sedayu Center. Bangunan kantor bagi salah satu pengembang properti di Indonesia, Agung Sedayu Group. Menawarkan gubahan ikonik yang lugas. Namun, tetap mengakomodasi fungsi sebagai kantor sekaligus sebuah bangunan tinggi.

The Mangrove terdiri dari dua masa menara asimetri yang diputar pada sudut hingga mendapatkan vista sekaligus mampu menangkap cahaya matahari pagi hingga tengah hari. Koridor tanpa penghawaan udara buatan diletakkan melingkari di setiap lantai. Ia menjadi pengadang cahaya sekaligus panas matahari secara langsung ke ruang-ruang kerja. Ruang -ruang kerja ditengah pun bisa mengurangi temperatur penghawaan udara buatan. Adalah upaya meminimalkan ketergantungan bangunan pada kebutuhan energi listrik.

The Mangrove menawarkan ruang-ruang yang fleksibel di setiap lantai. Memilih “Skin Skeleton Structure” sebagai struktur utamanya sekaligus membayangi ruang-ruang didalamnya. Kerapatan yang berbeda-beda pada fasad diatur menyesuaikan pola pergerakan tahunan matahari.

The Mangrove dirancang tidak sekedar menjadi massa yang individual. Berangkat dari keyakinan bahwa laut seharusnya tetap milik siapa saja. Pun berhak diakses siapa saja. the mangrove dirancang “hidup” menjadi bagian dari mangrove Jakarta. The mangrove terbuka bagi publik. Laut Jakarta, mangrove, promenade, lantai dasar menara, lantai podium, hingga lantai atap dirancang dapat diakses oleh mereka yang ingin menikmati laut utara Jakarta. Jalur pedestrian berpola dinamis menjembatani mereka dari promenade hingga level podium. Akses kendaraan bermotor dipaksa berputar, membiarkan udara laut tetap bersih bagi mereka para pejalan kaki dan pengendara sepeda.

The National Library of Indonesia has held a competition to find new ideas for a new library building. The location was in the first circumference of the National Monument, an area that has a high historical value in Indonesia.

Our proposal called “Menara Pustaka Indonesia”. Generally the tower is divided into two parts. The lower part is allocated to collections of print. And the upper part of the tower is dedicated for digital library. Among them there is a podium with garden for the ‘Science Library’.

Building conservation is maintained in front of the new building. Criticism of our team when see every plots in this area is always limited by the fence. Our proposal is to make our buildings without fences. Very large plazas that interconnected with pedestrian paths and urban transportation nodes.

Our proposal through the legitimate intentions of the authorities to give the an ideal idea of library with create a new landmark which is equipped with observation decks. 137-meter-high tower. A striking red color, silhouette simple form gives skyline and a new color for Jakarta.

Unlike the usual, peoples can see the Jakarta city from the observation deck of the National Monument. Our idea is to provide a new angle for people to see Jakarta, with its National Monument.

What if the city was in the middle of dense forest?

A+ Architect Design Lab [AADL] on the architecture exhibition in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Indonesian Institute of Architects [IAI] Bali Chapter. The exhibition held at the Art Center Bali on 8 -13 November 2010. One house representing acupuncture in micro scale. And a public space represents acupuncture in the macro scale [urban].

Rumah respirasi diangkat menjadi konsep sebuah rumah. Rumah respirasi merupakan finalis sayembara desain rumah tinggal sudut yang diselenggarakan oleh majalah Housing Estate dan Puri Botanical Residence beberapa waktu yang lalu. Site berada di Jakarta Barat, Indonesia

Respiration House [Rumah Respirasi] was appointed as the concept of a house. Respiration House was one of finalist in corner house design competition organized by the  Housing Estate magazine and Puri Botanical Residence some time ago. Site located in West Jakarta, Indonesia.
